Juveniles have many of the same rights as adults, but not all. As a juvenile, your rights include:

• Right to remain silent, and not to answer questions posed by the police
• Right to have an attorney present during questioning
• Right to have a parent present, but only if you ask
• Right to privacy in your room and closed containers, like your tool box in the garage or your makeup kit in the bathroom

The police cannot enter your room or search your closed containers – even if your parents say it’s OK.

As a juvenile, you do not have the right to bail. It is up to the judge to either hold you or release you, no questions asked.
